Some of the content (mainly the models) can’t be used commercially but we have a license in every folder that says how the content can be used! We’re getting closer and closer to making 100% of the Sandbox content commercially usable! And to help you out now I’ve created a site that focuses on the process it takes to Make A Game.
There are so many awesome aspects of Platinum Arts Sandbox Free 3D Game Maker to make a game but one of my favorites is the non restrictive license meaning you can do almost anything you want with it especially since the code is completely open source so you can change anything you want! Another favorite is that you don’t have to use clunky external grid based programs to do the level design work, you can actually do that all in game, and even cooperatively with friends! I’ve built a city with over 20 kids in the same world at the same time all working on different parts! Editing is as easy as hitting F1 or E for edit mode and selecting an area and pushing or pulling with the mouse wheel to edit terrain! You can even make bumps or caves using heightmap mode or even really tall mountains if you’d like! There are many models that can quickly be placed from the menu and you can copy and paste them by clicking on C to copy and then V to paste. The development is so fast and easy you can literally have an area built in a few hours or less once you get the hang of everything. So you could potentially even make a game in a few hours!
